Dr. James Betancourt was born March 3, 1963 in Miami Beach, FL. He was accepted into a 4 year general dentistry training program at the Medical University of South Carolina and graduated in 1993. He then went on to attend a 3 year program at the University of Kentucky Medical Center specializing in the training of Periodontal Surgeries, Dental Implant Placement, and IV Conscious Sedation, graduating at the top of the class in 1996. Dr. Betancourt was staff appointed to the Indian River Medical Center in 1998. He also became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Dr. Betancourt in 2007 returned to school and received his National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and subsequently received his Florida license as a Paramedic. He also graduated from the police academy and swat school. Dr. Betancourt volunteers on a regular basis with the Indian River County Sheriff Office and Indian River County Fire Rescue.
